What is the 3% fair wage charge on my check?
This is a fixed percentage service charge applied to all dine-in and take-out orders, separate from gratuity. It is called a fair wage charge because it helps ensure equitable living wages and benefits for our team amidst rising operational costs in hospitality and service industries. This revenue directly supports competitive hourly pay for our kitchen team, matching our front-facing team's rates. We choose not to raise menu prices further due to reaching a price ceiling. However, we already pay our team fair hourly rates and provide opportunities for growth and advancement. With rising costs of living in Portland, ME, timely pay raises are crucial. Small businesses struggle to keep up without price increases. Our teams are vital, and we strive to be a fair and progressive employer in Portland despite housing shortages and increased living costs. We appreciate our loyal customers and welcome feedback via email at info@terlingua.me.
